Facilities Utility Worker

1 Facilities Utility Workers Needed

SCHEDULE: #1 40 hours, Tuesday- Saturday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. This position essential in the event of weather or other emergencies.

SCHEDULE: # 2 40 hours, Sunday – Thursday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. This position essential in the event of weather or other emergencies.

Pays $21.50 per hour DOE

LOCATION: 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston

JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

The Facilities Utility Worker is responsible of carrying out routine Inventory, ordering and delivery of warehouse and housekeeping supplies with a consistent schedule. The Utility Worker position will support with the removal of trash at Pine Street Locations designated by supervisor, also will be supporting with snow removal during snow days. The Utility worker will work directly with the Facilities Hub team on daily basis to ensure that work orders and work requests are received and scheduled, responding to other duties as determined by their supervisor.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read printed labels and instructions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment preferred
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed

PREFERRED:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment preferred
  • Knowledge of building inventory and scheduling

PREFERRED:

  • Previous experience in Facilities/ Warehouse

PHYSICAL ABILITIES/SKILLS:

REQUIRED:

  • Operate equipment and deliver vehicles for maintenance
  • Frequent bending, standing, stooping, stretching, and lifting
  • Ability to lift heavy objects 50 – 100 lbs. assisted, such as appliances and furniture
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and access all areas of the buildings
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations

  • Well-versed in warehouse, shipping, freight, and receiving functions
  • Ability to safely drive and operate lift trucks, side loaders, pickers, pallet jacks, and other loading/stacking equipment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Being dedicated to our residents – working to exceed their expectations, resolve any maintenance-related issues, perform work orders in a timely manner, and maintain the property high standard
  • Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks
  • Reports any deficiencies in inventory, equipment, safety issues, or concerns to the Warehouse or Operations Supervisor
  • Provides or assists in standard maintenance Emergencies to the Facilities department
  • Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Be able to post extermination and other signs notification
  • Be able to obtain a hoisting license within the first year of work. Will learn to operate various machinery and may be expected to operate on occasion.
  • Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Respond to requests for emergency maintenance and repairs, implement routine and preventative maintenance of all equipment systems and fixtures in the building and on the grounds
  • Work under the Services Supervisor and accept instructions and assignments from the Assistant Supervisor
  • Make determination, in the absence of the Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor, that the “beeper person” should be called
  • Complete weekly / monthly safety reports
  • Assist in the distribution of supplies
  • Maintains grounds of facility or property performing such tasks as cleaning, raking, sweeping, leaf blowing or snow removal
  • Maintain all equipment and tools pertinent to your work
  • Willing to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Maintain positive working relationships and communication with housing staff
  • Attend core curriculum training and attend other related training as required
  • Perform additional duties, and/or work at alternative locations in the event of a weather or other emergency
  • Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements of the Inn, and elevate matters impacting health and safety to Supervisor
  • Promote a safe workplace by performing all tasks in a safe and thoughtful manner in compliance with all rules, procedures, instructions, devices, equipment and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Maintain vigilance for any hazardous conditions or practices in the workplace and immediately report any unsafe conditions or practice to your supervisor Performs other duties as directed.
  • Comply with and model compliance with all PSI policies, including illness prevention and occupational health policies.
  • Accept other duties or work locations as assigned in order to meet the needs of the organization during weather or other emergencies
